Christmas Fayre – Friday 27 November – 3.30 pm to 7.30 pm: A message from the Chair of FODs
The countdown has begun! It is now only 7 days until the Dumpton Christmas Fayre. The Christmas Fayre information booklet is attached which contains important information on school finishing times, children’s carol singing, children’s activities, the 35+ stalls, raffle prizes and food and drink. Please read carefully! We really hope you come and spend some quality Christmas time enjoying the Fayre this year.
Children in Need
A huge well done to everyone involved in the Children in Need afternoon. While Mr Moulton marshalled the troops, the whole event was driven by pupils from all levels in the school, putting their own ideas into practice. Thank you for providing the 50p, 20p and 10p pieces that fuelled the whole process. Many thanks should also go to Dumpton parent Sam Dean and her team, who took on the recycled toy stall and raised an impressive £450+ (the Giant Bear raised £65 alone)! Well done also to Madame Tricot Jones and Mrs Watkiss who organised the recycling of jewellery, ties and scarves in the Staff Room. This was an excellent effort by all concerned. In summary:
|Toy Sale at Dumpton
|Dumpton Staff Second-Hand Jewellery etc
|Total now collected
ESSKIA and National Tennis
Many congratulations to George W (Year 7) and Niamh T (Year 6) who have been selected for the English Schools National Squads by the English Schools Ski Association. At the same time, congratulations to tennis player William P (Year 6) who was recently ranked 11th at the Nationals in his age group.
Another very busy day, in some miserable weather, saw 20 or so Dumpton sides battling it out against a range of schools across the county. Special mention this week should go to the very successful senior girls’ hockey sides who all won well against Salisbury Cathedral School, and our U11 boys’ rugby squad who brought gold medals home from the Sherborne Sevens Tournament. Well done to all involved.
Thank you to all those who are supporting the Junior Gala Concert (Years 3-5) at 5.30 pm this evening. We look forward to a range of musical styles, with a mixture of solos and ensembles. We also look forward to the senior version two weeks later on Friday (4 December), featuring pupils from Years 6-8.
News from the Pre-Prep
All pupils in the Pre-Prep are now busily preparing for a range of Christmas productions and we would like to thank parents in advance for all the wonderful costumes that we are already hearing about. Year 1 pupils and staff had a lovely day at the Priest’s House Museum yesterday, looking an absolute picture in their Victorian wear. Thank you also to the Year 1 Parents who attended the Coffee Morning earlier today. It was good to catch up.
Year 7 and Year 8 Examinations
Teachers in the Prep School are currently in the middle of marking examinations and writing reports. We hope to send examination results home on Friday 27 November. Queries about these or any other academic matters should go directly to Director of Studies, Mrs Sharp (email@example.com) in the meantime.
Operation Christmas Child
Thank you so much for all the care you have taken over the festive shoeboxes deposited in the Front Hall. Your contributions will make 62 children very happy this Christmas.
Sadly Mr Loe will be away from school until the end of term, recuperating after an operation. He expects to return fully fit in January. Mrs Welch will be returning from her maternity leave next week, adding to the team in the busy run up to Christmas.
There are still spaces available on Mr Ashworth’s Christmas Club. Please see the Dumpton website for further details.
