One last advertisement for the ‘Parent Drop-In’ on the E-Safety Day next Wednesday 20 January from 3 – 4 pm.
Coinciding with both Pre-Prep pick-up and the end of Prep School Wednesday sports fixtures, we hope that a significant number of parents will be able to head for the Assembly Hall from 3.00 – 4.00 pm to meet with Internet Safety Officers, Sarah Badley and Mark Lane. They will answer questions, regarding any concerns you have, large or small. I know that many have found this very useful in the past.
There will be ten different age specific talks during the day, from Reception through to the staff, so we will hopefully all be much the wiser by the evening. With technology moving so quickly, we will book this update every year soon after Christmas, ready for the latest influx of new devices and websites…..
Thank you for your swift response to the Parents’ Evenings appointments system. Mrs Sharp has given me an array of statistics regarding 75% parental uptake and 1468 appointments booked to date. Almost everything seems to be in place for the first evening next week on Tuesday 19 January for Year 3 parents. If you would like any further information please do contact Mrs Sharp at email@example.com
New Recital Room
Mrs Watkiss will be hosting our first musical occasion in the new Recital Room on Friday lunchtime from 1.30 pm. It promises to be an entertaining concert, with a mixture of around 12 senior and junior pupils performing, some of whom are preparing for senior school scholarships. All are welcome, as ever.
Well done to all the teams who braved the unpredictable weather on Wednesday to represent Dumpton. They were rewarded with some very encouraging performances and some stunning rainbows over the school (see website). Particular mention should go to all three senior girls teams, who recorded impressive wins against Durlston Court. At the same time, the U11 boys were worthy runners-up at the Sherborne Hockey Tournament, topping their group and beating Hazelgrove 4-0 in the semi-final, before falling to Millfield Prep at the last hurdle.
Dorset Schools Cross Country Championships
Well done to all the pupils who braved some icy conditions at King’s Park, Bournemouth for the Dorset Schools Cross Country Championships. There were some impressive performances against the best runners in the county, with Esther B (16th/120) and Oliver S (18th/120) both coming in the top twenty, while running a year young.
Mrs Sharp will be welcoming Year 3, 4 and 5 parents to a seminar in the Assembly Hall from 5.00 pm on Friday evening. She will be discussing examinations and assessments in the Summer Term. We would be grateful if attendees could confirm by e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to enable us to gauge numbers.
Life Education Caravan
The Life Caravan has rolled into Dumpton today for its annual visit. Mr Moulton has written to parents in Reception, Year 1, 2 and 3. I hope the parents who visited this afternoon found the experience interesting.
DODs Floodlit Football
Just a reminder that, despite the cold, members of the DODs football squad will be training under floodlights from 6 pm on Friday evenings on the Dumpton astroturf, as usual. All welcome.
Next week …
… we also have Maths Challenges at Bryanston for teams from Year 4 (Wednesday) and Year 6 (Thursday) and will be attending the Ken Baily Cross Country Race at Bryanston on Thursday, and hosting the World Food Day on Friday in Year 2.
And finally …
Mr Moulton will be appearing in the ex-West End play ‘Shadowlands’, at the Tivoli in Wimborne on Thursday 18 February through to Saturday 20 February (over half-term). Yet another leading role showing his great versatility…
