Thank you to all the parents who have responded to our invitation last week. Just a reminder that the final date for our in-house survey is Friday 5 February. This has been set up by Caroline Dickson (firstname.lastname@example.org) and once again the links are in the e-mail version of this letter, either for parents of Nursery children or parents in the Pre-Prep and Prep School. Thank you, in advance, for your support.
Sadly the endless wind and rain put paid to our 21 fixtures on Wednesday, but the pupils still enjoyed some sporting fun both inside and outside on Wednesday afternoon. In addition to the 18 fixtures next match day, we have a Year 6/7 Cross-country team running at Canford on Tuesday, along with the U13 girls at the local PEDSSA netball tournament and the U8 boys at a rugby tournament at BCPS. Good luck also to the U11 boys’ hockey team who will be heading to Clifton College for the IAPS Regional Tournament on Friday.
News from the Music School
It is great to see the new music suite and recital hall up and running. We are currently planning a Grand Opening Week in May when the weather is warmer (details to follow). In the meantime, Mrs Watkiss is very keen to get as many musicians in the building as possible including inviting pupils to practise their instruments at morning break and lunchtimes, on a first come first serve basis. We will also be extending this to hobbies next term and there are several new projects on the horizon. Watch this space!
World Book Day
In preparation for World Book Day on Thursday 3 March, we'd like to announce the 'Book in a Box' competition, which is open to all year groups in the prep school. The idea is to transform a simple shoebox into a scene or location from one of your favourite books - creating a model 'stage set' depicting that scene in any medium. The only rule is that it has to be just shoebox size. The closing date for entries is Monday 29 February and boxes should be delivered to English teachers or the Library. Prizes will be awarded in each year group. Boxes should be clearly labelled with the entrants name, class, title of the scene and the book that it's from. Additionally, The Book Fair will be visiting school again throughout the week beginning 29 February. Details will follow nearer the time.
I write this having enjoyed another Parents’ Evening, this time with Year 4. Further evenings follow as outlined in the Programme of Events, including the Year 1 and 2 on Thursday 11 February just before half-term.
Year 8 Mock Examinations
Year 8 have their mock CE and Scholarship examinations to look forward to from next Tuesday (2 February). These will be followed by the Year 8 Parents’ Meetings on Tuesday 9 February where final decisions for senior schools can be discussed.
Nursery Coffee Morning
We look forward to welcoming Nursery Parents to the Front Hall next Friday (5 February) from 10.30 am. My study can become an impromptu crèche if you have younger siblings in tow, so please do feel free to bring them along. Please e-mail Lerryn if you are planning to attend on email@example.com so that we have an idea of numbers to cater for.
