Well done to the U13 girls who attended the PEDSSA Netball tournament on Tuesday. They left their examination desks at lunchtime to record a series of wins against Castle Court, Parkstone Grammar School, Ferndown Middle, St Michael's, Emmanuel and Swanage Middle School before beating Allenbourn (6-3) in the final. They now qualify for the Dorset Schools’ County Netball Finals at Bournemouth School for Girls’ on Saturday 5 March.
Well done, once again to Mrs Gray, the netball coaches and the senior girls on another excellent Senior Tournament on Wednesday. Sixteen sides battled it out on a cold, windy afternoon, and our 2nd VII played some excellent netball in winning the tournament. Very well done to all.
Finally, congratulations also to the U10 girls who travelled to the Canford Tournament on Wednesday with Mrs Williams. They played some impressive netball against some strong teams, and also came home with the trophy on the day. Exciting times!
Cross Country at Canford
There were large fields on a cold day at Canford on Tuesday, where Esther B came 2nd in the Year 6 girls’ race and Joe W and Alicia H finished 5th and 10th .respectively in the Year 7 races. Well done to all who braved a tough course and conditions.
IAPS Swimmers at Clayesmore
We are setting off with a big squad of 31 swimmers to the IAPS time trials at Clayesmore School next Tuesday (9 February) with all participants aiming for a place in the IAPS National Championships in the summer term. Good luck to them all.
Science at Bryanston
A group of Year 7 science students spent an afternoon at Bryanston on Tuesday, where they enjoyed an array of activities including fire-writing, pin-hole cameras and explosive flame tests. They also worked out who stole the monkey in CSI Biology!
News from the Pre-Prep
The Year 1 and 2 Parents’ Evening now follows on Thursday (11 February). Thank you to all the Nursery parents who attended the Coffee Morning earlier today. This prompted me to advertise our FODs Easter Egg Hunt which will include hot cross buns and coffee for all the Nursery parents on the last day of term (Thursday 24 March). Please put the date in your diary if you can.
House Cross Country and House Singing
We are bracing ourselves for two of the most keenly fought house competitions of the year next week. Everyone sings for their house on Thursday (instead of attending Hobbies) and then runs cross-country during games time on the Friday. The Dumpton Cross Country Course is currently not as muddy as it has been in the past, but older trainers might still be the order of the day rather than shiny new ones.
Thank you to all those who have completed the parents’ survey. We have had a good number of replies. For those of you that may not yet have had a chance the survey will remain open over the week-end and will close on Monday.
Next week …
….on Tuesday we have a busy Year 8 Parents’ Evening in the Assembly Hall from 5 pm.
Please save the Date - The FODS Summer Party will take place on Friday 10 June at the Italian Villa, Compton Acres.
