A big thank you to all parents who supported the Future Schools Evening last night. I hope this was a useful exercise - I am always happy to follow this up with as many individual meetings as are necessary during the school day. Please contact Lerryn to make an appointment if you feel this would be beneficial.
Children in Need
Dumpton parent Mrs Sam Dean (Yr8, Yr5) has asked me to remind you all again about the Pre-Prep Parents’ Toy Sale for Children in Need, which takes place this year on Thursday 17 November. Last year we raised hundreds of pounds simply by recycling unwanted toys, most at very low prices, for this very worthwhile charity. Sam has asked if you might start thinking about weeding out a few old favourites and leaving them in the Front Hall where they will be stored ready for resale. Thank you.
Sports success ….
….. measured in terms of participation, enjoyment and performance, in that order. There was a real buzz around school on Wednesday morning - well done to all 26 teams that wore the Dumpton shirt this week. There were some exciting and enjoyable matches, against 8 different schools, including three tournaments, one of which we hosted at Dumpton. Special mention to the 1st VII girls who won all seven of their games at the West Hill Park Tournament to win the day, and to the 1st XI boys who continued their successful season with a win over an U13 team from Poole High School.
Oscars, Equestrians and Road Relay Champions!
Congratulations to Will B (Yr 8) who received a Young Filmmakers Award at the British Film Institute in London for his work on the film ‘Phoney’, shot over the summer. Well done also to Henry C (Yr 5) who came 8th in the Mounted Games British Pairs Championship (U12 age group) in Nottingham. I am also delighted to report that Heidi T (Yr 8) was part of the team of 3 that won the South of England Road Relay Championships at Bedford Autodrome at the weekend. Well done to all.
On Monday we have a senior team at a Geography Quiz at Canford and then on Tuesday we have the Senior SATIPS Orchestral Day at Bryanston. This is followed by 25+ fixtures on Tuesday and Wednesday (all children in the Prep School involved in matches) and then a Year 6 Geography Field Trip to Lulworth on Thursday. On Friday we have a Prospective Parent Open Morning for Nursery and Reception, along with the U11 girls at the IAPS tournament at Kings Bruton.
News from the Chair of FODs
Macmillan Coffee Morning - A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the coffee morning earlier today. It was a great success, made possible by the many wonderful donations of cakes and baked goodies, and raised over £340 for the Cancer Support Charity. The Dumpton staff also ran their own event in school, raising further funds for the same important charity.
Quiz Night - There are still some tickets available for the Quiz Night on Saturday 15 October, so if you are interested in joining us please hand your forms into the front office as soon as possible. Teams are usually of 8 -10 but we will be happy to coordinate tables on your behalf. We have 10 teams already signed up, so we look set for a fun evening.
As part of our regulatory requirements I am required to tell all parents annually that all school policies are available for inspection at any time and can be requested from the School Office. In addition, the Safeguarding Policy and School Ethos (Parents’ Booklet) is published on the front page of the School Website and the following are available on request and also on the Parents’ Area of the School Website under School Policies: policy and arrangements for admissions, misbehaviour and exclusions, education and welfare provision for pupils with statements and pupils for whom English is an additional language, curriculum policy, policy to promote good behaviour and set out sanctions to be adopted in the event of pupil misbehaviour, anti-bullying arrangements, health and safety policy, first aid policy, health and safety on educational visits (including EYFS), the complaints procedure (including the number of complaints made under the formal procedures in the previous school year) and a copy of the most recent ISI inspection report. There is also a list of all staff and their qualifications in the Parents’ Area, and academic performance and examination results are outlined each year on the website. It is also my duty to inform you that the Chair of Governors, Ben Davies, can be contacted at the school’s address or at firstname.lastname@example.org at any time.
I will be hosting a Headmaster’s Breakfast once a term inviting a representative from each year group to meet and give feedback (both positive and negative)! Year Reps will change every term giving everyone a chance to participate. If you are interested in being a year group representative this term or beyond please contact Sarah Schiel at email@example.com. Each year group will be informed of their Representative by FODs and will be able to raise any discussion points well before the day. The first meeting is planned for Tuesday 15 November at 8.30 am. I look forward to seeing (some of) you there.
With best wishes
