Five star kitchens
Congratulations to Steph (again) for achieving another 5–star rating for her kitchens from the local food hygiene inspectors. All as you would expect, of course, but well done to the team nonetheless.
Dumpton Lunch – by appointment …
Over the coming terms, Steph will be saving a table at normal school lunchtimes on certain days, bookable by parents in any year group. The first date for your diary is Tuesday 1 November 2016. She can be contacted at email@example.com if you would like to book your places. There will be eight places each time, bookable on a first come first served basis. Arrival in the Front Hall from 12.30 pm, lunch from 12.45 pm and coffee served in the Headmaster’s Study from 1.30 pm.
Cross country runners
Well done to the Yr8 cross country teams who competed in the English Schools Cross Country Cup this week. Top ten finishers included Josh S (2nd), Henry S (3rd), Heidi T (5th) and Joe W (9th) - very impressive results in a very competitive race.
News from the Prep School
Congratulations to the Senior SATIPS musicians who performed so well at Bryanston earlier in the week, particularly Ollie E (Yr8) who led the orchestra of 120 pupils – some responsibility! All pupils surpassed themselves and were a credit to the school on a long, but rewarding day. We were then all relieved that the weather held for the very successful Year 6 trip to Lulworth on Thursday and Year 8 now look forward to their annual visit to Petersham Farm, courtesy of Dumpton parents James and Sara Ireland.
Pupils represented Dumpton at 20 fixtures this week. Steph and her team surpassed themselves once again preparing tea for countless parents and pupils – business as usual, she says! I would like to congratulate the 1st XI football side on their 3-1 victory at Castle Court, the U11 boys football side on winning the sixteen school BCS Tournament and all the other teams on an excellent set of results on a very busy day. Good luck now to the U11 girls who are playing King’s School, Bruton in the Regional IAPS Tournament as I write.
While on the subject of sports, to support our regular kit inspections, we would be grateful if parents could take a few minutes this weekend just to check the labels on their children’s clothing to ensure that they are clearly labelled and that they don’t have other belongings muddled with their own. Any returns will be much appreciated, particularly by the Matrons!
News from the Pre-Prep
Years 1 & 2 will be holding informal Open Afternoons in the week beginning Monday 10 October from 3.40 pm. These are opportunities for children to show parents their work so far this term. Further details have already been sent to parents in a separate letter.
Dumpton pupils have always enjoyed making up Christmas shoeboxes of presents for children who, otherwise, would receive little. This year we will be sending the boxes to The Rotary Club, who will be forwarding them overseas to children in need. If you would like to participate, please could you deliver your boxes, wrapped in Christmas paper to the Front Hall after half-term. There is a flyer containing further information attached to this letter. Thank you.

Quiz Night - last call for Quiz competitors for Saturday 15 October – please send booking forms to the Front Office by Wednesday 12 October at the latest. We will sort out teams on the night if necessary.
Christmas Fayre – after the tremendous success of last year’s fayre we are really looking forward to another great event on Friday 25 November. Please look out for the flyer after half term with information on stalls and activities – and do let us know if you would be interested in running your own stall. We are seeking donations for tombola prizes – gifts, toys, chocolates, toiletries etc. Please bring any donations to the Front Hall.
Parent Seminars – in conjunction with the school, the FODs Committee are planning some twilight talks (4.30 – 5.30 pm) on topics of immediate interest to parents. Suggested topics have included Youth Mental Health, First Aid, E-Safety, Injury Prevention in Sport and the Growth Mindset in young people. It would be useful for us to gauge interest in such areas, so we would be grateful if you would contact firstname.lastname@example.org with your views. We have some speakers lined up for the coming terms but need to guarantee them an audience! Thank you in advance.
With best wishes
