Great Gatsby Summer Ball
First of all I would like to thank Liz Fowley, Elana Visser and the entire FODs Committee for their hours of time and incredible attention to detail in staging this year’s Summer Ball. The marquee was stunning and the magical atmosphere on the night made it a very memorable evening for all. A special mention should also go to singer and Dumpton parent Jaime Franses who entertained us all during the arrival drinks. Equally impressive was the turn out on Sunday morning at 8 a.m., as members of the FODs team were back in school to tidy up the morning after. This all showed amazing commitment to the school, and was much appreciated by everyone involved.
Prep School Sports Day
The forecast for tomorrow is uncertain but changing by the hour, so fingers crossed for another sunny day. Thanks in advance to Mr Randle for his giant spreadsheet with 200+ children each taking part in four different events, including relays and tugs-of-war. DE Photos will also be present, capturing the moment as usual. Do please bring a picnic but there has been a health and safety request for no trackside barbecues due to the presence of large numbers of competing (and excited) children. Trackside gazebos are welcome for those who want to hide from the sun.
News from the Pre-Prep
Having officiated at the Nursery and Reception Sports Days, I was really impressed by the spirit of the children. There were smiles in every race, most of which were captured by the professional photographers in attendance. We also enjoyed a very pleasant Summer Concert from Year 1 and Year 2 pupils on Thursday. Thank you to Mrs Bowerman and the Year 1 and 2 staff for their organisation and to the pupils for their lovely singing.
A big thank you to all staff and peripatetic musicians who contributed to such an enjoyable concert on Tuesday, particularly Sam Moulton who was an excellent compere, Neil Sissons who accompanied many of the pieces and Sue Watkiss who marshalled the troops. It was an extremely pleasant evening with some outstanding and very memorable virtuoso performances. Thank you also to the parents and pupils for their generous applause on the night …

… End of Year Picnic – Thursday 2 July
All are welcome at this event. Start time is 5.00 pm. Please bring your own picnic to enjoy a lovely family occasion. FODS will circulate a flyer to all parents next week with further details. As this is a family occasion it is requested that all children be accompanied by parents if they are attending. Finish time 8.00 pm. All pupils can wear home clothes during the day to save them changing out of school uniform later. Pupils not attending will be supervised until 5.45 pm and school buses will then run as normal. If your child will not be on the bus please let Matron know – email@example.com
Lessons for the Prep School will end on Thursday 2 July. Reports will be distributed by email from Friday 3 July. The Robins, Woodpeckers, and Pre-Prep classes will finish for the term at 3.30 pm on Thursday 2 July but After School Club will run as usual. There will be no lessons on Friday 3 July.
Speech Day – Friday 3 July
There are no school buses. Prize Giving starts at 10.00 am for all children from Reception through to Year 8 and their families. Car parking will be signposted. Children should come to school with their parents in time for Prize Giving and should sit with them.
