I hope that many parents have seen the new recipes posted by Sue Brown on the school website. These outline the wonderful creations that Years 6, 7 and 8 will be bringing home from Food Technology lessons over the coming months. I was particularly impressed by her new Pumpkin Gnocchi, both seasonal and delicious, and made with our own produce from the allotments! Click here.
Star Show Jumpers
Well done to the show-jumpers Annie D, Flora H, JJ H, George W and Henry C who represented the school last weekend at Leweston. Our two teams each came third overall in their respective classes, but I must make special mention of Annie D who came first overall – outstanding!
Similarly, well done to the Senior Golf team, Nathan C, Angus W, Will T and Morgan B, who won the Milton Abbey Golf Competition at our first attempt, with Angus coming an impressive first overall.
A big thank you to all parents who supported the Future Schools Evening last night. I hope this was a useful exercise, I am always happy to follow this up with as many individual meetings as are necessary during the school day. Please contact Lerryn to make an appointment if you feel this would be beneficial.
Tutor Group Meetings
Next week we continue with the Prep School Tutor Group Parents’ Meetings. On Tuesday (6 October) we have Year 7, in the Dining Hall. The Year 8 Tutor Group Meeting then follows on Thursday (15 October) at 6 pm in the same venue.
Children in Need
Dumpton parent Mrs Sam Dean (Yr7, Yr4) has asked me to remind you all again about the Pre-Prep Parents’ Toy Sale for Children in Need, which takes place this year on Thursday 12 November. Last year we raised hundreds of pounds simply by recycling unwanted toys, most at very low prices, for this very worthwhile charity. Sam has asked if you might start thinking about weeding out a few old favourites and leaving them in the Front Hall where they will be stored ready for resale. Thank you.
On Tuesday we have the Senior SATIPS Orchestral Day at Bryanston and a Year 6 Geography Field Trip to Lulworth on Thursday. On Friday the Year 3 pupils will be heading to the Cranborne Technology Centre to continue their study of the Iron Age and Roman eras. There will also be the usual array of 20 or so fixtures on Tuesday and Wednesday.
News from the Chair of FODs

Teams are usually of 8 -10 but we will be happy to coordinate tables on your behalf. We have over 75 sold already, so look set for a fun evening.
Xmas Party - This year’s Xmas Party will be held at Branksome Beach Restaurant on Friday 4 December. Invitations will be attached to next week’s newsletter and in book bags, with tickets going on sale soon after. Please save the date.
As part of our regulatory requirements I am required to tell all parents annually that all school policies are available for inspection at any time and can be requested from the School Office. In addition, the Safeguarding Policy is published on the front page of the School Website and the following are available on request and also on the Parents’ Area of the School Website under School Policies: policy and arrangements for admissions, misbehaviour and exclusions, education and welfare provision for pupils with statements and pupils for whom English is an additional language, curriculum policy, policy to promote good behaviour and set out sanctions to be adopted in the event of pupil misbehaviour, anti-bullying arrangements, health and safety policy, first aid policy, health and safety on educational visits (including EYFS), the complaints procedure (including the number of complaints made under the formal procedures in the previous school year) and a copy of the most recent ISI inspection report. There is also a list of all staff and their qualifications in the Parents’ Area, and academic performance and examination results are outlined each year on the website. It is also my duty to inform you that the Chair of Governors, Ben Davies, can be contacted at the school’s address at any time.
Parents may be interested to hear that Year 1 and 2 Teaching Assistant Mr Yorke will be running the Bournemouth Marathon this Sunday (4 October) in aid of Julia’s House. He has a Just Giving page should you wish to support him.
