Senior Schools’ Exhibition @ Dumpton
Next Friday (16 October) we have a Senior School’s Exhibition here at Dumpton in the Assembly Hall, from 3.45 – 5.45 pm. Schools attending will be Bryanston, Canford, Clayesmore, Millfield. Milton Abbey, Poole Grammar, Queen Elizabeth’s, Wimborne, St Mary’s, Shaftesbury and Sherborne. This is timed to coincide with pick-up – please feel free to collect your children from Pre-Prep and come on afterwards at 3.45 pm, or drop in to visit the stands and then pick up your children from the Prep School at 5.45 pm. There will be light refreshments (tea/coffee) served. We are hoping for a significant footfall and will make this an annual event if there is sufficient interest.
Adding to our recent successes on the golf course and show jumping circuit, I am delighted to report that Tim J (Year 7) was recently crowned U12 Real Tennis British Open Singles Champion at the Queen’s Club in London last month. Many congratulations to him.
News from the Prep School
Congratulations to the Senior SATIPS musicians who performed so well at Bryanston earlier in the week. We were then all relieved that the weather held for the very successful Year 6 trip to Lulworth on Thursday and the Year 3 trip to the Cranborne Ancient Technology Centre today.
Pupils represented Dumpton at 20 fixtures this week. Steph and her team surpassed themselves once again preparing tea for around 400 parents and pupils all told – business as usual, she says! I would like to congratulate the 1st XI football on their 5-1 victory at Castle Court. Well done also to the girls’ 1st VII hockey side, who produced another impressive performance to beat Walhampton 4-2.
While on the subject of sports, to support our regular kit inspections, we would be grateful if parents could take a few minutes this weekend just to check the labels on their children’s clothing to ensure that they don’t have other belongings muddled with their own. Any returns will be much appreciated, particularly by the Matrons!
Tutor Group Meetings
Next week we continue with the Prep School Tutor Group Parents’ Meetings. On Thursday (15 October) we have Year 8, in the Dining Hall. The Year 3 Tutor Group Meeting then follows after half-term on Tuesday (3 November) at 4.30 pm in the Year 3 classrooms.
News from the Pre-Prep
Years 1 & 2 will be holding informal Open Afternoons in the week beginning Monday 12 October from 3.40 pm. These are opportunities for children to show parents their work so far this term. Further details have already been sent to parents in a separate letter.
Operation Christmas Child
Once again we look forward to welcoming representatives from Operation Christmas Child to Dumpton next week. It seems strange to be planning for the festive season already but, judging by the 100+ contributors each year, Dumpton pupils seem to enjoy making up the boxes of presents for children who, otherwise, would receive little. We have special decorated shoe boxes available at the Front Desk. If you would like to participate, please could you deliver your boxes to the Front Hall after half-term. Thank you.
