Lauren St John is a multi-award winning author and one of her most popular books, Dead Man's Cove, was awarded the Blue Peter Book of the Year. We were therefore very excited to have Lauren visit our school on the Friday of Book Week. She spoke to Years 3 to 8 in an extended assembly, sharing stories of her amazing life, including her childhood spent on a farm and game reserve in Zimbabwe, her adventures rescuing dolphins and leopards with the Born Free Foundation, and her experiences as a journalist and novelist. Lauren then ran workshops with Years 4-6 in which she involved the whole group in creating a story. The book sale and signing held in the library at break time was very popular, and many of the children are now armed with their own copy of one of Lauren's books. It was a very fitting end to a busy, book-filled week.
