Dear Parents
I wanted to focus my letter this week on some of the unsung heroes at school. Whilst teachers are obviously familiar faces and integral to your children’s experience, there are many others here at Dumpton without whom the school would just not be the same.
Firstly, we have a wonderful team of teaching assistants, nursery practitioners and other support teachers – perhaps the finest group I have seen in my career. They do such important work to support the children each and every day, and I know all the children value their presence immensely. We are so fortunate to have them.
Then we also have a strong team of support staff, led by Justin Perry our excellent Bursar. Our Matron team are some of the busiest members of staff at school – and whether it's dishing out medicine, popping a plaster on, or just being there for a quick chat, they play a huge role in the pastoral care of the pupils. The admin team at Dumpton, many of whom will be familiar voices and faces to parents, work incredibly hard to support both staff and parents, and ensure the school runs as smoothly and efficiently as possible for all. The wonderful catering team not only ensure the children are well fed each day – they do so much to contribute to the positive atmosphere in their interactions with the children. Our site team and school cleaners also do much of the unseen work that keeps the Dumpton site in such good order. And finally, how could I forget our minibus drivers, who each take their roles so seriously, and build such fantastic relationships with the children.
Each and every one of them is a key part of the Dumpton community. I’m sure you’ll all join me in thanking them for all that they do.
5P Class Assembly
As we all gear up towards the Coronation celebrations next week, a big thank you to 5P for their excellent assembly on British Values. It was great to see such confident public speaking and performing as ever.
The Cricket Season Begins...
The cricket season began this week with fixtures against Bryanston Prep, Ringwood School, and the U10s playing at the Canford Cricket Festival. You can read about that team’s excellent showing, as well as all the other fixtures on the match reports on the Dumpton Sports Website, but also on the link below:
Week 2 - Summer Term Sports Reports
A big thank you to our dedicated staff who write such lovely comments each week.
Assessments and Exams
As we head toward the end of the academic year, my thanks to Mr Morgan for overseeing the assessments and exams process for our older pupils. He wrote to Y6 parents today about the end of Y6 assessments, and Y7 and Y8 parents can expect detailedinformation, including revision guides, next week.
Normandy and North Devon Await!
Best of luck to Y7 who head to Normandy next week for 3 days of sight-seeing and cultural experiences, and to Y6 who head off to Skern Lodge for 4 days of adventure on the North Devon coast. A thank you to all the staff accompanying the pupils – but I must admit I am rather jealous not to be going myself!
Everything you need to know about Future Schools
It was a pleasure to see so many parents for this Zoom on Tuesday, and thanks to Mr Morgan for his contributions too. Please find attached my slides for anyone interested.
Message from 5P
Thank you to those who have donated used books and toys for 5P's sale to fundraise for Bin Twinning, to raise money for places where there are no refuse collections and conditions are unsanitary. Breaking news! There will also be a donut sale happening too! Donuts will be £1 each, gluten and dairy free options also available. When they're gone they're gone! The book, toy and donut sale will happen at all pick ups on Thursday afternoon from 3.15pm to 5.15pm, at the gate.
