Dear Parents
We were honoured, and indeed very proud, to find out this week that we have been chosen as a national finalist for the prestigious Muddy Stilettos ‘Outstanding Pastoral Care Award’. With over 400 entries to the Awards this year from Independent Senior and Prep Schools across the country, to be chosen as one of 5 finalists is a real achievement.
Our submission was centred around our forward-thinking approach to building social and emotional intelligence through RULER, and the tangible and measurable impact this has had on pupils’ wellbeing since we launched this in September 2021. However, what the adjudicators don’t see – and what I witness every single day – is what makes the pastoral care at Dumpton so first class: a staff team who build nurturing, caring relationships with the children, and work tirelessly to ensure they always put them first. Children’s happiness and wellbeing is the building block upon which everything else is built, and we’ll continue to ensure that it remains our number one priority.
Local Schools Cricket Festival
Thank you to Mrs Clemmitt, Mr Randle and Mr Grogan for running a cricket festival this morning for pupils from Pamphill, Hayeswood and Colehill First Schools. It was lovely to see so many pupils enjoying the facilities and getting the opportunity to represent their schools in cricket fixtures.
Prospective Parent Open Morning
We’re hosting an Open Morning on Friday 19 May – the school will be running as usual, but it will be a lovely chance to show families around the school and see it in action. If you know of any families considering Dumpton for their child, please encourage them to come along, we’d be delighted to welcome them. There is a sign-up form on the front page of the school website.
Triathlon Experience Days – starting in May
A reminder that Dorset’s first junior triathlon hub will be running a series of taster sessions for youngsters age 8-14 years living in Dorset. This has been really popular amongst pupils and so, we wish to continue developing triathlon, headed by world champion triathlete, Tracy Cook and Philla Burt. All the information and booking can be found by clicking on this link: https://bit.ly/Junior-triathlon-taster-mornings
Y2 Visit to Brownsea Island – from Miss Fisher and Mrs Morton
What a fantastic day we had yesterday on Brownsea Island and luckily, the weather held out for us! All of the children in Year 2 represented the school wonderfully, with their excellent behaviour and consideration for the other visitors. They should all be very proudof themselves, as we are. The children spent the day spotting the different environments, habitats and animals found at Brownsea on their scavenger hunt and some were even lucky enough to see a red squirrel – all topped off with a yummy ice cream at the end of the day!
Family Afternoon– Friday 26 May
Mrs Shaw has sent an email earlier today regarding our Family Afternoon which is now fast approaching. We are crossing our fingers for sunshine and looking forward to seeing everyone very much. Please do ensure that you complete the form which will help us immensely with our planning.
Britain’s Got Talent
Well done to all those who spotted Miles and Austin R appearing on Britain's Got Talent last weekend as part of the group Boycanto. They received some amazing feedback from the judges, and we can’t wait to see how far they will go in the competition. We’re all rooting for you boys!
Year Group Photos
These have taken place this morning on the front lawn – the weather stayed dry, and the photographers from Fraser Portraits commented on how well behaved our pupils wereacross each of the year groups which was lovely to hear. We hope to have the proofs to share with you very soon.
Swimming National Finalists
We’re so proud to report that three of our swimmers have qualified for the IAPS National Finals this year – a huge well done to Millie N, Mason E and Izzy B. Mr Jeremiah will be joining them and their families for a memorable day at London Aquatics Centre over half term, and we wish them all the best of luck!
Sports Reports
Despite the rain cancelling many games, we still had some fantastic cricket fixtures against Walhampton. Special mention to the U10As who have now won 5 of their 6 matches this season. We also had a terrific afternoon of Athletics for Y4 today against Castle Court. The match reports from all the fixtures this week are all on the Dumpton Sports Website, but for ease, you can also click here: Week 2 - Summer Term Sports Reports
