Dear Parents

As I write, outside my study window I can see the Nursery, Pre-Prep and Prep children and staff are enjoying a lovely picnic on the front lawn together. The catering team are busy setting up for the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, and there’s a buzz of positivity in the air as we all anticipate welcoming family members into school for what is always a very special community occasion. With a sunny half term around the corner too, it’s fair to say that spirits are high!

Occasions like this afternoon, where we come together as a community on the school site, are such important and special moments in the school calendar. One of the strengths of Dumpton has always been the cohesiveness of the school community – our shared sense of purpose, our willingness to collaborate and work together, and the strong belief in the school’s nurturing yet aspirational culture that we all share. Thank you for coming along today and playing your part. I do hope it served as a reminder that we are all very privileged to be part of this special community, and that we should all be very proud of the children in our care who approach school life with such kindness, enthusiasm and positivity.

Without wanting to wish the term away, parents should also ensure that Speech Day – Friday July the 7th – is firmly etched into your diaries. Nursery will be open (until 11.30am), but all Reception to Y8 pupils and parents are invited to celebrate the year, before the Dumpton Friends picnic begins straight afterwards. It’s sure to be anotherfantastic community occasion.

Bryanston – 21st Century Parenting Day
We thought parents of older children at Dumpton may be interested in attending what looks to be a fantastic event at Bryanston on Tuesday 6th June. Raising a teenager can be a daunting challenge for any parents - with sessions on screen time, internet safety, drugs, and mental health, this day will hopefully provide parents with lots of useful information and advice.

Clayesmore Drinks
Clayesmore are hosting drinks for their Sandbanks/Bournemouth based parents and prospective parents on Monday 19 June – they would be delighted to welcome any parents who are considering Clayesmore Senior School. It will be a nice opportunity to chat in an informal environment and meet other current senior school parents. Please see attached invitation for more information.

Charity Fundraising Hobby event – Friday 9th June – From Mr Tridgell
The pupils of the Charity Fundraising Hobby have been busy planning a host of activities to raise money for a local charity – Margaret Green Animal Rescue. We would be delighted if the school community would be able to support us by bringing in some money to have a go at the variety of challenges and activities that we have organised. Events include a raffle, ‘Guess the name of the Bear’, football and netball challenges, and a cookie decoration stand. We hope that as many pupils and parents can take part during the day and any support would mean so much to us and our chosen charity. We will share more information about the day after half term. We look forward to seeing you there and thank you in advance for your support.

Worst Witch
Mrs Mudd and Mrs Warde would like to congratulate all of Year 4 & 5 on their fabulous performances of the The Worst Witch this week. We look forward to sharing the professional photos of both productions very soon but if you would like to relive some of the performances again, unedited video recordings of the shows can be found at the following links:

LAMDA Superstars
We celebrated all our LAMDA exam candidates in assembly this morning who received certificates for their exams taken last month. We are thrilled to say all pupils passed with merits and distinctions. Our thanks goes to the brilliant LAMDA team for all their hard work and encouragement. Well done all!

Pre-Prep Summer Performances
We are excitedly preparing for the upcoming Pre-Prep Summer offerings. Please note that this year we will be enjoying one big event for all pupils from Nursery up to Year 2 to sing, dance and play. This will be held at 3.30pm on Monday 26th June. More details to follow. Please note, this will now include Miss Sophie's Dance Show so there will be no additional event for dance.

Sport – Cricket and Prep School Sports Day

The Prep School Sports Day (Y3-8) is scheduled for Wednesday 28th June, further details will be sent out after half term. To help with your planning in the meantime, please find the timetable here: Prep School Sports Day - timetable of events

Dumpton Staff/Parent Cricket v Bryanston
Thanks to all the parents who have signed up for this fixture on Tuesday 6th June – we have a healthy-looking squad! There is some interest in organising a net session during half term here at Dumpton – do see Classlist and respond if you are interested.
